The Indonesian, (Jakarta) — The Coalition of Students and United People of North Sumatra (KMMB SUMUT) has spoken out about two major issues currently plaguing Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). Chairman of KMMB SUMUT, Sutoyo SH, along with Secretary Hendra, believes that the series of alleged irregularities is not just a technical oversight but a serious indication of BSI’s internal integrity and oversight weaknesses.
Alleged Irregularities:
– *Funding Irregularities:* BSI allegedly disbursed Rp32.4 billion in funding to Koperasi Karyawan Setuju PT Asam Jawa between 2016-2018, with indications of procedural irregularities and potential involvement of bank officials.
– *Account Freezing:* A customer, MSR, claims his account was frozen without explanation, and he hasn’t been able to access Rp507 million of his funds despite opening a new account.
Demands:
– *Investigation:* The North Sumatra Attorney General’s Office should investigate and prosecute those involved in the alleged irregularities.
– *Transparency:* BSI should provide transparent explanations regarding the freezing of MSR’s account and take responsibility if found guilty.
– *Action:* The North Sumatra Police Chief should expedite the handling of MSR’s report, and the BSI KC Aksara leadership should be held accountable if found guilty.
Ultimatum:
KMMB SUMUT will hold a mass action on November 27, 2025, if concrete actions are not taken by the relevant authorities. The action will be held at the North Sumatra Attorney General’s Office, BSI Regional Office, and North Sumatra Police Headquarters ¹.
