JAKARTA — Shinera Entertainment successfully premiered Indonesia’s original fantasy musical drama, SIRENA: Tears of the Sea, on October 9–10, 2026, at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta.
Blending live music, drama, choreography, stage design, and multimedia, this large-scale theatrical production welcomed nearly 4,400 audience members across four performances over two days.
Conceived and written by Loly Imelda Hutapea — who also composed all original music for the production — SIRENA is far more than a mermaid fairy tale. Directed by Djalaeni Manock, with Loly Imelda Hutapea serving as Supervising Director, the story follows Sirena, a special child belonging to two worlds — land and sea — who is washed ashore after a great storm destroys the underwater kingdom of Atargatis. It is a heartfelt narrative about love, family, courage, and acceptance.
“I have always wanted to create works that open up the widest possible space for imagination. Through SIRENA, we want to take children and families into a magical world, while staying grounded in values that resonate deeply with real life,” Loly Imelda Hutapea told media in Jakarta on Tuesday (13/10/2026).

More Than Performance — An Inclusive Collaboration That Went Viral
What captured public attention and went viral on social media was the production’s powerful social commitment. Shinera Entertainment actively included a community of musicians with disabilities as part of the live orchestra.
This initiative received direct praise from Fatma Saifullah Yusuf, wife of Indonesia’s Minister of Social Affairs, who said during the press conference: “I am deeply moved and incredibly proud to hear that 7 to 10 young people with disabilities are performing as musicians in this production.”
The project was developed in partnership with the Sub-Department of Culture — Central Jakarta, the Jakarta Arts Council, and PT MRT Jakarta. Additional support came from Seruni Kabinet Merah Putih and the Ministry of Social Affairs, which helped bring underprivileged and talented children to the performances.
The stellar cast includes Rara Sudirman (Indonesian Idol) as Sirena, Widi Mulia as Queen Kaia, Agus Wisman as King Athar, Teuku Zacky as Professor Dharma, alongside dozens of emerging young talents — proving that Indonesia’s musical theatre industry can compete at an international standard.
