The INDONESIAN (Jakarta) – Alya Cahya, S.H., Chairperson of the Cahya Public Center (CPC), has expressed her support for the ongoing deliberation of the Revision of the Indonesian National Police Act (Police Bill) currently being discussed by the House of Representatives (DPR RI). According to her, this regulatory revision represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen the National Police’s institutional capacity in facing increasingly complex national security challenges in the modern era.
Alya Cahya emphasized that technological advancements, the rise of cybercrime, human trafficking, cross-border drug trafficking, and various other forms of transnational crime demand a police force that is ever more professional, modern, adaptive, and grounded in a strong legal framework.
“The Police Bill should be seen as a collective effort to strengthen the police’s capacity to provide more effective protection, security, services, and law enforcement for the public. Strong security is the fundamental foundation for national development, investment growth, and public welfare,” Alya Cahya stated in Jakarta.
In her view, improving police regulations is a vital step to ensure the force can respond to contemporary challenges while also delivering public services that are professional, transparent, and accountable.
On this occasion, Alya Cahya also commended the various achievements of the police’s transformation under the leadership of National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo through the PRESISI program, which has driven improvements in public services, the digitalization of police systems, strengthened internal oversight, and more responsive action to community needs.
“The transformation carried out by the police in recent years demonstrates a genuine commitment to building an institution that is increasingly close to the people. Various service innovations and internal reforms are proof that the police continue to evolve into a professional and publicly trusted institution,” she said.
She added that the police’s success in solving a wide range of criminal cases is also a key indicator that the institution is consistently performing its duties and functions optimally.
“The resolution of thousands of cases involving corruption, narcotics, gambling, and other crimes shows that the police remain active in carrying out their law enforcement role to protect the public and safeguard national interests. These achievements deserve appreciation and must be supported by stronger institutional capacity and adequate regulations,” Alya Cahya emphasized.
Alya Cahya called upon all elements of society to oversee the deliberation of the Police Bill in an objective, constructive manner that prioritizes national interests.
“We need to give space to the ongoing legislative process so that it produces the best possible regulations for Indonesia. Let us pray that the deliberation and eventual passage of the Police Bill proceed smoothly and bring significant benefits to strengthening national security, upholding the law, and ensuring legal certainty in Indonesia,” she said.
Furthermore, she urged the public to provide moral support to all police personnel who work daily to maintain security and public order across the country.
“On behalf of the Cahya Public Center, we call on all Indonesians to pray for National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and all police officers, that they may always be granted good health, strength, and wisdom in serving the nation and state. When the police force grows stronger, more professional, and more beloved by the people, Indonesia will be better prepared to achieve its great vision toward Golden Indonesia 2045,” Alya Cahya concluded.
