The INDONESIAN ,(Depok)—– Haidar Alwi Care (HAC), in collaboration with the Haidar Alwi Institute (HAI), continues to expand its nationwide humanitarian initiative through the People Helping People Movement.
The assistance program, which targets support for 3 million orphans, the dhuafa (underprivileged), and the elderly, is dedicated as a form of social service to the people of Indonesia.
Ir. R. Haidar Alwi, M.T., President of Haidar Alwi Care (HAC) and also Board of Advisors Member of the Community Oversight Movement (GPM), emphasized that the movement is rooted in the spirit of mutual cooperation and care for fellow human beings.
For him, assisting those in need is a humanitarian responsibility that must be nurtured through tangible, sustainable action.
The People Helping People Movement also serves as an expression of social solidarity and service to the nation under the leadership of President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, who holds the mandate of the people.
According to Haidar, national leadership requires the participation of all elements of society. The government cannot resolve social challenges alone. Therefore, communities, national figures, civil society organizations, the business sector, and all components of the public must contribute according to their respective capacities.
This spirit forms the foundation of the People Helping People Movement: those with the ability assist their fellow citizens in need, while reinforcing the government’s efforts to advance welfare and social justice.
Furthermore, the humanitarian initiative is dedicated as a gesture of appreciation and moral support to National Police Chief Gen. Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the entire ranks of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in carrying out their duties to safeguard public order and security.
Haidar noted that domestic security stability is a core foundation for community activities, national development, and humanitarian social initiatives to proceed effectively.
As the frontline guardian of public safety and order, Polri bears great responsibility to deliver protection, a sense of security, and services to people across Indonesia.
“We dedicate this movement to the people of Indonesia. We wish to play our part in assisting our fellow citizens in need. This is the spirit of People Helping People: working together for Indonesia,” Haidar stated.
This commitment was demonstrated through a charity event organized by GPM together with Haidar Alwi Care on Saturday, 11 July 2026. During the humanitarian action, 1,000 orphans received financial assistance, while 100 children underwent free mass circumcision.
Yet for Haidar, social outreach must not end with one-off aid. Humanitarian efforts must deliver long-term impact, particularly for the future and education of children from disadvantaged families.
“We will support them not just through junior or senior high school, but all the way to university. This is what I mean by the People Helping People Movement that I have initiated,” Haidar affirmed.
He called on GPM, alongside Haidar Alwi Care and the Haidar Alwi Institute, to continuously expand social care initiatives and ensure children in need do not lose access to education due to economic hardship.
“Earlier I told the Board of Advisors that events like this should not be held only once. If anyone requires school assistance in the future, they may enroll at my school, the Haidar Alwi Institute,” Haidar remarked.
“So, school-age children whose parents are unable to support their education are welcome to register,” he added.
Addressing attendees and guests, Haidar also encouraged the orphans present never to feel inadequate due to their circumstances. Limitations, he said, should never become an obstacle to growth, striving, learning, and achieving success.
“The Prophet Muhammad SAW himself was an orphan. So orphans should never feel discouraged—they should be proud,” Haidar said in his remarks.
Haidar expressed hope that the children would remain resilient, pursue their education, and excel amid life’s challenges, reaffirming his commitment to ongoing support through sustainable social and educational programs.
Meanwhile, GPM Chairperson Bunda Yusnizar conveyed appreciation and gratitude to all parties who supported the event.
She noted that collaboration across all sectors of society is vital to delivering tangible, direct benefits to those in need.
“We thank everyone who attended and participated today—including Mr. Haidar, Deputy Mayor of Depok Mr. Chandra Rahmansyah, the Head of Social Services, the Cimanggis Subdistrict Head, GPM Chairperson Raja Pandawa Haryudha, leaders of community organizations, and all others we cannot name individually,” Yusnizar stated.
Yusnizar added that GPM prays all donors and contributors receive the best blessings from God Almighty for their kindness. She assured that GPM will continue to advocate for and expand social initiatives that directly address community needs.
On the same occasion, Deputy Mayor of Depok Chandra Rahmansyah reaffirmed the Depok City Government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of orphans and vulnerable groups.
Chandra expressed pleasure at attending and interacting directly with the children.
“I will continue to stand alongside these orphans,” Chandra emphasized.
The assistance and mass circumcision event embodies the collaborative spirit between communities, social organizations, and government to strengthen care for fellow citizens.
Through the People Helping People Movement, Haidar Alwi Care and the Haidar Alwi Institute aim to ensure social action extends beyond ceremony. The initiative is expected to grow into a national humanitarian force that opens educational pathways, delivers hope, and builds a better future for Indonesia’s people.
For reference, the People Helping People Movement has thus far channeled assistance to approximately 1.8 million orphans and underprivileged individuals through Haidar Alwi Care and the Haidar Alwi Institute. The program will continue to expand toward its target of supporting 3 million orphans, the needy, and the elderly across Indonesia.
